John Gann has worked in the business and the computer profession all of his adult life as both a practitioner of Information Technology in various managerial positions and as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in Dominican College and Orange County Community College.

A firm believer in Computer Literacy, John encourages students in college to develop the necessary business and computer skills required in today’s marketplace including obtaining a Personal Computer Certificate, becoming Certified  and not to be afraid of looking into technology related courses to satisfy their curiosity with the hope that their future jobs may be a step closer.

John takes great pride in developing new computer related courses in keeping him current and to provide new technology topics for his students enabling them to be more marketable. Courses such as: Computer Forensics, Computer Data/Physical Security, Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, Computer Ethics, Animation Programming, Introduction to Office Technology, Programming for the Internet, Microsoft Excel-Business Applications, Help Desk Management, Android Phone Apps, a variety of one credit courses leading to certification and many others have been introduced to our student body. John also heavily contributed to the newly re-designed CIS program and courses for the college which is now offering various key CIS major concentrations.

John has served on various college committees including the Faculty Affairs Committee and Freshman Directorate for many years. John was also the chair and one of the charter members of the college’s Academic(now-Instructional) Technology Committee always advocating for better IT results/solutions, effective teaching through computers in the classroom and computer lab essentials for students. John also sits on the Orange County Community College Business Board relating to business and industry representing Dominican College and was both the past-president and former Region 13 Secretary for the Data Processing Management Association(now AITP) and introducing the student computer DPMA chapter to the college. John is a member of the Cornwall Little League Hall of Fame and was the director and winning coach in the first few founding years of the girls softball fast pitch competition in Orange and Rockland Counties. He also holds a New York State Realtor’s  Broker’s license and is a professional member of the National Association of Realtors.
