Fieldwork Requirements

Level I Fieldwork

All students must complete six supervised fieldwork visits at two different practice areas and settings for a total of 12 visits.

Level II Fieldwork

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) requires 24 weeks of full time Level II fieldwork.

The AOTA requires that supervision is provided by a Registered Occupational Therapy with a minimum of one year in a practice setting.

Dominican College Occupational Therapy Program requires two 12 week (three months) Level II experiences. Twelve weeks are spent in a treatment setting that provides services to pediatric and/or adolescent clients (0-18 years) and twelve weeks are spent in a treatment setting that provides services to the adult and/or geriatric client.

The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) requires that at least one fieldwork experience (either Level I or Level II) has as its focus psychological and social factors that influence engagement in occupation.
