This year's Founders Week celebrations will be help from September 23 to 28.
Founders Week is the annual celebration of the College's heritage and the Dominican Sisters who established it. Activities include preaching in action projects, guest lectures, a barbecue, and the presentation of the Spirit of the Founders Award to two deserving students. This award represents a respect for the values and traditions that have endured for centuries and holds the promise that the Dominican tradition will be carried on. The "Spirit of the Founders Award" also represents for its recipients, a strong belief in their potential as leaders.
Monday, September 23rd
Keynote Presentation by Kevin Ahern, Assistant Professor, Religious Studies. He defended his doctoral dissertation in theological ethics from Boston College in 2013. His dissertation was entitled “Structures of Grace: Catholic NGOs and the Church’s Mission in a Globalized World.” From 2003 to 2007, Kevin Ahern served as the President of the International Movement of Catholic Students (IMCS-Pax Romana), an international network of students in over eighty countries. He continues to be active on the boards of several national and international networks, including the Catholic Common Ground Initiative, the board of directors of America Press and as a Vice-President of the ICMICA-Pax Romana. He has edited the Radical Bible and Visions of Hope: Emerging Theologians and the Future of the Church, both with Orbis Books. When not teaching, writing, or going to international meetings, Kevin enjoys hiking, Cape Cod, and spending time with his wife.

Spirit of the Founders Recognition Luncheon – This award represents a respect for the Dominican values and traditions that have endured for centuries, and recognizes contributions by our students who hold the promise of carrying the spirit into the future. The winners will be announced at a luncheon, held in their honor, on Thursday, September 26th from 11:30am-1:30pm. All are invited to attend. We hope you will join us. Preaching in Action – Dominican College volunteers prepared 10,000 meals to be distributed through local food banks and charities.
Founders Week concludes on Saturday, September 28th with the 69th Annual Dominican Sisters Festival, which features games, food, and pony rides.
