Dr. David Clare Lecture: “Bernard Shaw’s Inextinguishable Pride in Being an Irishman”

Dr. David Clare is an Assistant Lecturer in Drama and Theatre Studies at Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, Ireland. Since 2009, He has delivered more than 60 conference papers and public lectures in Ireland, Britain, Hungary, Canada, and the United States on important figures in Irish, British, and American Literature. His first monograph, Bernard Shaw’s Irish Outlook, was published in 2016 and his essays have appeared in numerous journals and edited collections.

Dr. Clare’s public lecture at Dominican College will focus on playwright Bernard Shaw’s formative years in Dublin and how his Irish experiences influenced his plays. The lecture is entitled, “Bernard Shaw’s ‘Inextinguishable Pride in Being an Irishman.’”

The lecture will be followed by refreshments and Irish entertainment.

The event is free and open to the public.
