    Juanita Reyes is originally from La Vega, Dominican Republic. She recently graduated with a doctoral degree in Spanish Linguistics from the University at Albany, SUNY. Since 2011, she has taught Spanish from Elementary to advanced levels at different institutions of higher education. Her research interests include Sociolinguistics, Contact linguistics, Language Variation and Change, Dominican Spanish, and Spanish as a Heritage Language. She has several publications and conference presentations on Dominican Spanish and Spanish in the US. Juanita truly enjoys teaching Spanish as a second language and helping her students embrace their heritage. Juanita enjoys spending her free time hiking, camping, and backpacking with her family.
