Athletic Training at Dominican College

The primary goal of the Bachelor of Science program in Athletic Training is to prepare qualified entry-level Certified Athletic Trainers (A.T.C.s) for service in schools, colleges, professional athletic organizations, sports medicine clinics, and a growing range of non-sports health care settings.

Through a combination of classroom instruction and clinical experience, the program is designed to:

  • Prepare students to assume immediate responsibility and future leadership in the prevention of injuries
  • Emergency care management
  • Rehabilitation of various injuries and/or illnesses; in program organization and administration; and in the educational and counseling aspects of athletic training

Accreditations

Dominican College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The program has been placed on Probation as of August 8, 2020, by the CAATE, 6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731-3101. The program has chosen to Voluntarily Withdraw its Accreditation effective August 27, 2021.  The program will remain on Probation until the Withdrawal is effective and the program is closed.
