    Work Experience:

    Matt Coyne is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Division of Business Administration. Professor Coyne has been a member of the Business Administration faculty of Dominican College since 1984. He joined the faculty after a ten-year career in public accounting as an Audit Manager and previous to that as a Corporate Controller in private accounting.

    In addition, Professor Coyne continues to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York, consultant in the areas of individual and corporate taxation. He is also a financial advisor, consulting with clients to plan and manage retirement funds, college savings plans, and various other financial matters.  His continuing accounting and financial practice experience enriches his teaching.

    Matt also serves his community by appearing as a speaker for various school and church groups and has served as member on various community boards.

                John Gann has worked in the business and the computer profession all of his adult life as both a practitioner of Information Technology in various managerial positions and as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in Dominican College and Orange County Community College.

                A firm believer in Computer Literacy, John encourages students in college to develop the necessary business and computer skills required in today’s marketplace including obtaining a Personal Computer Certificate, becoming Certified  and not to be afraid of looking into technology related courses to satisfy their curiosity with the hope that their future jobs may be a step closer.

                John takes great pride in developing new computer related courses in keeping him current and to provide new technology topics for his students enabling them to be more marketable. Courses such as: Computer Forensics, Computer Data/Physical Security, Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, Computer Ethics, Animation Programming, Introduction to Office Technology, Programming for the Internet, Microsoft Excel-Business Applications, Help Desk Management, Android Phone Apps, a variety of one credit courses leading to certification and many others have been introduced to our student body. John also heavily contributed to the newly re-designed CIS program and courses for the college which is now offering various key CIS major concentrations.

                John has served on various college committees including the Faculty Affairs Committee and Freshman Directorate for many years. John was also the chair and one of the charter members of the college’s Academic(now-Instructional) Technology Committee always advocating for better IT results/solutions, effective teaching through computers in the classroom and computer lab essentials for students. John also sits on the Orange County Community College Business Board relating to business and industry representing Dominican College and was both the past-president and former Region 13 Secretary for the Data Processing Management Association(now AITP) and introducing the student computer DPMA chapter to the college. John is a member of the Cornwall Little League Hall of Fame and was the director and winning coach in the first few founding years of the girls softball fast pitch competition in Orange and Rockland Counties. He also holds a New York State Realtor’s  Broker’s license and is a professional member of the National Association of Realtors.

                    Dr. Donald Hsu has earned a PhD from Fordham University, was the  Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Princeton University and Columbia University.  At Felician College, Dr. Hsu founded the Computer Science Department, served as the Chief Information Officer, and received hundreds of thousands of dollars in computer grants from the State of New Jersey.

                    At Dominican College, he was the Director of Business Division for six years,  managing 7 full-time and 35 part-time MBAs and PhD staff. He consults with  5 CEOs in New York area companies. He is the president of Chinese American  Scholars Association (CASA), a non-profit firm in NYC.  CASA ran 17 successful E-Leader conferences in Asia and Europe since 2006. He is 1% top rank all-star at the Linkedin social network, with 5,000+ global business partners and clients.

                            John studied at Pace University (BBA in Accountancy Practice) and New York University’s Stern School of Management (MBA in Business Economics), along with additional doctoral graduate studies in economics, business, and education at New York University.

                            He holds a Certificate in Management Accounting (CMA), granted him upon examination by the Institute of Management Accountants in 1972.

                            Work Experience:

                            John’s business experience includes positions as a corporate officer in the advertising industry (Vice President—Finance of Euro-Advertising Holding Company, BV, an international group of advertising agencies based in the Netherlands; Corporate Assistant Treasurer of J. W. Thompson Company—JWT, one of the world’s largest advertising agencies). He also has small business experience in real estate management.

                            John brings his business and international experience to the classroom. He primarily teaches economics, but has also taught numerous courses in finance, accounting, and management at the college level during the course of fifty years.  He has taught at Dominican since 1996 and was Business Administration Division Director for seven years; prior to that he was a tenured faculty member at Pace University and taught as a visiting Professore at Franklin University in Lugano, Switzerland.

                            A native of the Bronx, John has taught, worked, and travelled in Europe and elsewhere. He lives in Westchester County, NY, when teaching at Dominican and spends his remaining time in the U. S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), where his wife resides and works as a Registered Nurse.

                                Vicky Szerko received her BA in Political Science from Barnard College and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.  Prior to her teaching career Professor Szerko worked in advertising and product management at Ogilvey & Mather, Grey Advertising and A&W Beverages, and also produced sports documentaries for Conrad Television Associates in the UK.  Professor Szerko’s interests center on behavioral economics and big data for marketing applications.

                                        Work Experience:

                                        The Administrative Assistant of the Business Administration Division for several years, Sarah Colgan began her career at The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in secretarial positions in the Aviation Department, the World Trade Department and the Career Development Division of Human Resources.

                                        While earning her bachelor degree in Management at St. Peter’s College, Sarah transitioned to an Operations Supervisor position at the World Trade Center Observation Deck and eventually went on to supervise an office staff as well as coordinate and administer payments for off-site management training programs for the Career Development Division of the Port Authority.

                                        After more than 15 years at the Port Authority, Sarah began another career as the mother of three sons.  During the child rearing years, Sarah volunteered in the PTA, holding positions of Treasurer and subsequently, President.  She also taught religious education classes at her parish for ten years and served as Vice President of the Congers Civic Association.

                                        She went on to teach a Nursery School class at Riverview Nursery School in Nyack, New York for three years before accepting her current position at Dominican College.
