On Tuesday,
March 12 from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Palisades Room, the Division of
Nursing and the Office of Special Services present Changing Lives: The Seeing
Eye Dog.
Don MacGowan and George will present the history of guide
dogs, from the oldest existing guide dog school in the world. In this
interactive session students and community members will learn about what it
takes to breed, raise, train, and match a guide dog with their partner.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice guide dog etiquette - what
to do when meeting a guide dog.
In addition, Don will discuss the laws
that protect service animals and their use in the United States and the
protocol for responding to an emergency involving a guide dog team.
