On Tuesday, March 12 from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Palisades Room, the Division of Nursing and the Office of Special Services present Changing Lives: The Seeing Eye Dog.

Don MacGowan and George will present the history of guide dogs, from the oldest existing guide dog school in the world. In this interactive session students and community members will learn about what it takes to breed, raise, train, and match a guide dog with their partner. Participants will have the opportunity to practice guide dog etiquette - what to do when meeting a guide dog.

In addition, Don will discuss the laws that protect service animals and their use in the United States and the protocol for responding to an emergency involving a guide dog team.
