Level I Fieldwork
Dominican College Occupational Therapy Program requires that students who are Certified Occupational Therapists (COTAs) complete one supervised fieldwork visit at two different practice areas and settings for a total of two visits.
Students from a diverse educational background (DEB) must complete six supervised fieldwork visits at two different practice areas and settings for a total of 12 visits.
Level II Fieldwork
The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) requires twenty four weeks of full time Level II fieldwork.
The AOTA requires that supervision is provided by a Registered Occupational Therapy with a minimum of one year in a practice setting.
Dominican College Occupational Therapy Program requires two 12 week (3 months) Level II experiences. Twelve weeks are spent in a treatment setting that provides services to pediatric and/or adolescent clients (0-18 years) and twelve weeks are spent in a treatment setting that provides services to the adult and/or geriatric client.
American Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) requires that the 24 weeks of Level II Fieldwork be completed within twenty-four months following the completion of the Occupational Therapy Professional Academic Curriculum in order to ensure meaningful application of the academic material.
