MA 119 Mathematics for Liberal Arts

This course provides an opportunity for students to see mathematics used in ways not emphasized in traditional algebra classes. The course emphasizes problem-solving. Specific topics covered will be selected from the following: set theory and logic, number theory and systems of numeration, unit conversions and dimensional analysis, consumer mathematics, probability, graph theory, and voting theory.

Prerequisite: Placement level of MA 113 or higher, or completion of MA112 with a C - or better. Students who have already received credit for MA 117 are not eligible to take MA 119.
