CJ 320 Probation and Parole (3)
This course examines probation, parole, and other alternatives to incarceration in theory and practice. Topics include the history of corrections in America and its relationship to the current prison overcrowding crisis, as well as various contemporary programs such as: probation (traditional and intensive); parole; and early release programs, including halfway houses, community service, and electronic monitoring. In addition, offender needs and risks, inmate re-entry issues and solutions, and theories of crime and rehabilitation are explored.
