The BS In Nursing for Career Changers is an accelerated BSN program, available to students who hold a prior non-nursing Bachelor’s degree. The program is available in two options. It can be completed in one calendar year during the week, and in two years on weekends.

Weekday Option

This 12-month program includes all the components of a traditional nursing degree in an accelerated, trimester format. Faculty are experienced nurse educators who are credentialed in their areas of expertise.  The weekday option begins in May, and all graduates are eligible to take the state licensing examination (NCLEX).

Weekend Option

This is a 24-month program that meets on the weekend, allowing students to continue working while earning their degree. Each of the six trimesters consists of 12 weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays, with major holiday weekends off. The weekend option begins in May and finishes  two years later.  Graduates of the program are eligible to take the state licensing examination (NCLEX).

Prerequisites for Both Options

The 11 prerequisites for the ABSN Option are Sociology, General Psychology, Development Psychology I & II, Chemistry I, Biochemistry, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, Pathophysiology, and Statistics. English and Mathematics Placement Tests are prescribed by the Office of Admissions. All social science, science, mathematics prerequisites, and placement tests must be completed prior to starting the nursing program. A B- minimum is required for all science prerequisites.
