EN 444V The Search for Identity: Multicultural American Fiction (3)

The struggles and self-reflection involved in forging individual, community, and national identity are studied through a variety of texts. Looking at these issues from a multi-cultural perspective, the course combines background readings from the social sciences, popular culture, and the arts. Assigned texts represent multiple genres and male and female writers from different eras, and reflect the experiences of various immigrant groups and races. Works vary by semester. Co-requisite: EN 113.
