Dr. Lauro Cavazos to deliver 2008 baccalaureate address : On May 18, Dr. Lauro F. Cavazos, former U.S. Secretary of Education, will deliver the baccalaureate address at Dominican College’s 54th commencement ceremony. The academic procession will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the College’s Hennessy Center on Western Highway in Orangeburg.   more

  • Dominican College senior Brian Mackey wins NCAA Division II men's golf super regional: On May 7, 2008, Dominican senior Brian Mackey took first place in the NCAA Division II men's East/Northeast super regional played in Delaware. Mackey finished at 9 over par in the third round of play bringing his overall score to a 222.   more
  • Dominican College students to participate in Catholic Relief Services HIV Action Team: Blair Holz-Larsen and Zureai Goodwin, Dominican College freshmen, have been selected to participate in the Catholic Relief Services College Leaders Action Team. They will attend a week long training in Atlanta, Georgia to learn about HIV and the Church's response to the disease.  more

  • Dominican College student newspaper awarded second place: Dominican College’s DC Press has been honored again for its excellence in student journalism. American Scholastic Press has awarded Dominican’s student publication second place for college newspapers in schools of between 1,700 and 2,500 students.   more
  • A different kind of spring break: Over spring break 2008, fourteen Dominican College students, four administrators, one alumna, and one faculty member spent their Spring Break with volunteers from all over the world. Their goal: to help rebuild the lives, homes, and communities which were devastated by Hurricane Katrina two and a half years ago.   more
  • Going Green is Big Business: On May 2, The Palisades Institute of Dominican College presented Peter Davoren, President and Chief Executive Officer of Turner Construction Company. Mr. Davoren discussed the impact of “green building practices” not only on the construction industry, but on the environment.  more
  • Homeless Village on Dominican Campus: Dominican College students slept in boxes to raise awareness about the homeless community. The idea of a box city was first introduced on the campus of Dominican College last year during a Rotaract meeting. The plan for this awareness/fundraising event took shape over the past year and came to fruition on Thursday night, April 17.   more
